Meet our Venue Manager
As we prepare for the August opening of Summit Aquatic and Leisure we’d love to introduce our Venue Manager, Nathan Hart!
Nathan will bring a wealth of experience to Summit Aquatic and Leisure having spent over 17 years working in the sport and recreation industry, including roles in both local government and the private sector.
Up until April of this year, Nathan served as the venue manager at Mount Barker Mountain Pool and continues to manage operations at the Adelaide Hills Recreation Centre.
“It was hard to close the Mount Barker Mountain Pool chapter because I knew how much it meant to the community, but at the same, it’s been really exciting to work with Mount Barker District Council on Summit Aquatic and Leisure because I can see how it will benefit our community more,” says Nathan.
While the seasonal Mount Barker Mountain Pool provided Mount Barker and Adelaide Hills community members a space to cool off and exercise in the summer, Summit Aquatic and Leisure will provide more than just aquatic opportunities, all year round. Summit Aquatic and Leisure will bring three indoor pools, a fully-equipped gym, Reformer Pilates classes, swimming lessons and more, to affirm Mount Barker as the most liveable region in South Australia.
When asked what he’s looking forward to the most at Summit Aquatic and Leisure, Nathan said, “I’m looking forward to working with the local community to build a vibrant, accessible, activity hub that supports lifelong movement, connection and fun.”
Additionally, Nathan said, “As a Venue Manager, I get to focus on community engagement, program development, and building inclusive environments for people of all ages and abilities. I’m passionate about creating Summit Aquatic and Leisure as a community space where people feel welcome, supported, and motivated to achieve their health and wellbeing goals.”

Q&A with Nathan
1. What is your job title, and what does it involve?
N: I’m the Venue Manager at Summit Aquatic and Leisure. My role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the centre; supporting the team to deliver high-quality programs and services, ensuring our venue is safe and welcoming, and working closely with the community to ensure we’re meeting local needs. I also focus on growing partnerships and supporting our staff to thrive in their roles.
2. How do you spend your spare time? What are your hobbies?
N: When I’m not working, I love playing golf, getting outdoors, and spending time with my family. Outside of Summit Aquatic and Leisure, you may find me in the Hills community, coaching basketball! I’m a bit of a sports tragic and enjoy catching up on a game or two when I can.
3. Do you have any pets/kids?
N: Yes, I have two amazing kids who keep me on my toes! They love being active too, so my partner and I spend a lot of time supporting their sporting commitments.
4. What makes Summit Aquatic and Leisure different to other community venues?
N: Summit Aquatic and Leisure is a truly modern, purpose-built facility designed with the whole community in mind. It’s not just about swimming or fitness – it’s about providing a space where everyone, regardless of age or ability, can feel included and supported. The sense of community we’re building here is something really special.
5. What would you say to anyone who isn’t sure where to start with their health and wellbeing journey?
N: Start small and be kind to yourself. You don’t need to have it all figured out on day one. Whether it’s a gentle swim, a group class, or just walking through the door – every step counts. We’re here to help you feel confident, supported, and excited to start your journey with us.
