Summit Aquatic and Leisure is now open – and locals are diving into the fun

Mount Barker has got a whole lot more energised with the dazzling debut of South Australia’s newest aquatic and fitness destination, Summit Aquatic and Leisure.

Managed by Belgravia Leisure, opening celebrations gave locals a sneak peek of the state-of-the-art venue with a jam-packed community weekend on Saturday August 16 and Sunday August 17.

In partnership with Mount Barker District Council, the venue threw open its doors for a two-day celebration that had the whole town buzzing. Hundreds of excited guests dove into free 90-minute swim sessions, each capped at 200 people to keep the vibes fun and safe. Meanwhile, curious visitors joined exclusive guided tours led by council representatives to explore the $52 million facility.

The party didn’t stop at the pool. A live DJ kept the energy high, the Mount Barker Swimming Club fired up the barbecue and kids got creative at the GOswim colouring and activity station. Several lucky attendees will also walk away with door prizes, adding an extra splash of excitement to the weekend.

Following the success of the community weekend, the venue opened to the wider Mount Barker community on Monday 18 August and is now officially the community’s go-to hub for health, fitness and fun.

Venue Manager Nathan Hart said, “The community weekend was a resounding success, and it’s great to officially open the doors to the public who have been patiently anticipating this moment. It’s just fantastic to see people of all ages and backgrounds having fun and getting engaged with the new venue, and I’m proud of all our team for pulling together this landmark event.”

The new centre showcases a 25-metre lap pool, a learn-to-swim area with shallow entry, a warm water therapy pool, a fully equipped gym, Reformer Pilates studio, child-minding Kidz Zone and a cozy café for post-swim snacks and chats.

GOswim learn to swim lessons are also available, with sessions booking fast for summer.
